This building is among the oldest remaining Acadian churches, started in 1824 by the faithful of this community, which had been recently established. Major subsequent additions included the present steeple (1884), and the sacristy (1900). This Church served the spiritual and community needs of generations in Barachois, and the surrounding area. Deconsacrated in the mid-1970’s, then recognized as an historic building, it now serves as a community museum where during the summer season cultural events are held.
